The "pets allowed" filter on Airbnb is misleading — many hosts tick it then refuse on arrival. Always message BEFORE booking, stating the dog's weight and breed, and request written confirmation. Save the conversation. If the host refuses late, Airbnb refunds in full.
Marbella: walkable, Parque Urracá nearby, many expats with dogs. El Cangrejo: neighborhood life, dog-friendly outdoor restaurants. Casco Viejo: cobblestone walks morning/evening, but many stairs (not great for big dogs). San Francisco: Parque Omar (best dog park in PA City), families. Costa del Este: very dog-friendly but car required.

Prices typically 30-50% cheaper than Airbnb monthly. But: listings in Spanish, Panamanian landlords (often little English), 1-2 month guarantor + 1 month deposit.
VRBO is weak in Panama (limited dog-friendly stock, mostly Bocas and Pedasí). Booking.com has good aparthotels accepting pets (Wyndham, Marriott Residence Inn, etc.) but pricier than Airbnb. For PA City, stay on Airbnb for short-term and Encuentra24 for long-term.
