When does Panama permanent residency arrive with Friendly Nations?

Friendly Nations gives a 2-year provisional residency first. After that period (with economic conditions maintained), you can apply for permanent. Total initial → permanent: ~3 years. Naturalization possible after 5 years of permanent residency.

Can you work in Panama with the Friendly Nations Visa?

Yes, but with a separate work permit obtained in parallel (Carnet de Trabajo). The residency visa grants right of stay; the work permit grants right to salaried employment. Freelancers / independents don't need the Carnet (can live on foreign income).
