Dry season Dec-Apr = calmer sea, blue sky, family/snorkel ideal. May-Nov = afternoon rains but rough sea → better surf. Whales July-October. Avoid Carnival (Feb) = Las Tablas (30 min) explodes in hordes.

Playa Venao surf

Beach break over 1.5 km, consistent swells year-round (best April-October). Levels: beginner (left side, softer) to intermediate/advanced (right side). Surf schools $40-60/2h lesson. Board rental $15-25/day.

Isla Iguana tour

30 min boat from Pedasí port. Cuerpo de Carey beach (white sand), coral + fish snorkel. July-October: humpback whales frequent. Tour $30-50/person, day. Bring snorkel + water.

Playa El Toro snorkel

10 min by car, calm rocky beach, coral + small fish snorkel. No gear rental on-site — bring yours or rent in Pedasí ($10/day).

Playa Venao sunset

One of central Pacific's most beautiful. Selina or Beto's bar on the beach. Cocktails $4-7. May-October = most dramatic sky.
